CSR Racing: The Best-Selling Drag Racing Series with Over 100 Licensed Cars

Custom Street Racing is a free-to-play drag-racing game by Boss Alien and NaturalMotion Games. In the game, the player takes the role of a new racer looking to gain fame in a deserted city ruled by five racing "crews". A sequel was released on iOS and Android on June 29, 2016, called CSR Racing 2.

CSR Racing's single-player component is split into five tiers, with each tier introducing progressively faster opposition and vehicles. To move on to a new tier, the player must race and beat the crew boss for the level. After beating the boss of each level, the player will be challenged to a high-stakes rematch. If the player wins the race, they are awarded the boss's car; however, if the player loses, they must give back the gold won from the previous boss race. Unlike a traditional racing game, CSR Racing does not feature steering, braking or acceleration controls. Instead, the game focuses on timing gear changes and use of the nitrous upgrade by tapping the screen, in a similar fashion to a rhythm game.[8] Races take place across either a quarter- or half-mile distance, depending on the event in which the player has chosen to compete. These events range from repeatable Regulation Races, which are split into three different difficulties (Rookie, Amateur, Pro), to direct confrontations against rival crew members. After a player has beaten a rival crew member, a race cannot be replayed. The game features several other race modes such as "Daily Battle," where the player drives a random car for a single race, and "Restriction Races," where cars must meet certain specified criteria.

Media reception to CSR Racing has been generally positive, with Modojo awarding it 4/5 and Gamezebo describing its visuals as "better than some games from the previous console generation (Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii)".[15] Other outlets like Pocket Gamer criticized the implementation of in-app purchases, describing the game's gas system as "an unpardonable grasp for cash", but adding that it was "an accessible and fun racing game."[16]

Tuning Presets: Tuning is a big part of boosting car performance in CSR2. To make this easier, you can now save multiple tuning settings and switch between them effortlessly, giving you more time to concentrate on the racing! Please do let us know what you think of this new feature on our social channels.

Confession time. When CSR Racing was released late last month for Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices my first thought was, "Joy, another racing game". I then installed CSR Racing and my first impressions immediately flew out the window.

CSR Racing is the older Drag Racing Windows Phone game but with Asphalt 8: Airborne level graphics. The game offers you a career in city street drag racing where you can buy and race over ninety licensed cars, customize their appearance and upgrade everything from the engine to the license plate.

CSR Racing is a universal app, available for low-memory Windows Phones and supports cloud saves where you can switch between devices without losing your game progress. Add a multi-player mode to go along with the single player story line and CSR becomes a solid racing game for Windows Phone and Windows 8.

The first order of business with CSR Racing is to allow the game to sign you into the game automatically with your Live ID. This will allow you to cloud save your gaming progress and switch between your Windows Phone and a Windows 8 device without skipping a beat. From there you are taken to brief tutorial on the game play that covers the basics. The tutorial is acted out as a test to prove you are worthy to compete in the street racing circuit. Once you pass this test, you will start your career.

CSR Racing has five racing families that you will have to defeat to prove yourself as top dog. There are also ladder races to compete in and multi-player racing where you compete against other CSR Racing gamers.

The garage menu has options to visit the car dealer to buy a new car, upgrade a car, customize a car, view your vehicle inventory and head over to the race menu. Upgrades cover tires, transmission, engine, turbo, intake, nitrous and body adjustments. Customizations include changing the car's paint job or customizing the license plate. Upgrades and customizations are not free and will cost you a little cash or gold coins that are earned through racing.

Some of these races require you to reach a particular experience or upgrade level and some require you to beat a specific crewmember. The regulation race is a great way to build up your experience and bank account, all of which will help open up these other racing modes.

Regardless of the racing mode, the game screen is consistent throughout CSR Racing. Races are conducted from a side view. At the start of the race, you will have a steering wheel and gas pedal displayed on the screen. A gear shifter, RPM gauge, gear indicator and speed gauge is displayed on the steering wheel.

With regards to drag racing games for our Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices, it will be very hard to beat CSR Racing. Graphics are excellent and game play challenging. Even though it uses a token system, you do not feel restricted in how long you can play the game in one sitting with all the upgrades, customizations and purchases to keep you busy.

Overall, CSR Racing is one of the best racing games available in the Windows Phone and Windows Store. If you try CSR Racing, let us know what you think of CSR Racing in the comments below. Also, remember to rate the game in the Stores to offer feedback to the developer on their work.

To create a sustainable business, a freemium game must enable a player to have more fun by spending money. CSR racing has a brilliant feature which allows the player to experience a taste of the fun each day.

CSR Racing 2 is a mobile online racing game for iOS and Android devices. Racers compete against players around the world in cars from real-world brands like McLaren and Ferrari. Danica Patrick's appearance in CSR Racing 2 is not her first foray into the video game realm, as she featured as a guest racer in Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed. She raced Sonic and his friends in the Danicar, a custom racer she co-designed with Hot Wheels specifically for the game.

Getting better at racing the AI in CSR Racing 2 is a pretty straightforward process. You run enough races with a particular car to get its shift timing down, continually improve it by buying upgrades whenever you can, and add any fusion parts you grab along the way.

The Live Race mode, however, is a different beast. In contrast to some other mobile racing games, it provides CSR Racing 2 with a true multiplayer experience, allowing you to race head to head with a live human opponent at any time (or at least any time the servers are functioning properly).

There's no way to truly know how good the person you're racing against is at CSR Racing 2, but an obvious red flag should be if they want to bet a lot of cash on the race. That could mean they're just desperate, but it typically is a sign that they're quite good and confident they will emerge victorious.

At the end of races you have a chance for an Agent Deal to pop up. The Agent will offer a random car (limited by the highest tier you have access to, but usually the tier you were currently racing in) 50% (or 75%, but this is unconfirmed by me) off the cost. These are amazing deals!

With 110-octane racing fuel in the tank, the quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine delivers a jaw-dropping 1,850 PS (1,824 HP / 1361 kW) and 1,850 Nm (1,364 lb-ft) of torque, or 1,600 PS (1,577 HP / 1,177 kW) on 98-octane fuel. The Bolide tips the scales at 1,240 kg (2,733 lbs) dry and has a weight-to-power ratio of 0.67 kg (1.5 lbs) per PS.

Just like the original CSR Racing, this is a drag racing game. You fly down a straight street at speed far above 100 MPH, pitted against a single opponent. Races are less than a quarter-mile long and usually take about 15 seconds if your slow.

Sure, you could just race with a stock colored car, but why would you want to when you can get loud and crazy. You can customize four sections of your car: The paint job, interior, livery, calipers, and license plate. Some customization options have additional sub-customizations. For example, when you change the livery, you can choose which panels get the custom painting or you can add racing stripes. You can even choose from some unusual looking pattern skins or woodgrain, if that's what you want.

Racing is a big category on the App Store. The top 10 racing games in the U.S. grossed more than $10M in the last month alone. Games, more so than apps, are dependant on being discovered through search when not using paid ads.

Even though car racing is a pretty focused niche, within it, there are a few genres. You have the serious races, the very casual ones, and the ones that are Mario Kart. While they're all different, they end up competing for attention on very similar keywords, so in essence, they all compete with each other.

Even with those issues, CSR manages to do fairly well for very competitive keywords such as "racing" (51K results) and "car games" (31K results). CSR achieves these by having the right amount of downloads for these keywords, which it gets by using paid ads.

You'll notice I mentioned competitor names, something I usually advise against. But here there's a reason, and that is that games of this nature are less about the brand and more about the game. As such, a play looking for another similar racing game might actually be interested in CSR 2.

Granted, the game has racing in its name, and the icon is a car, but... by not making it abundantly clear in the first screenshot, to turn a page view into a download, NaturalMotion is asking the user to connect the dots in their head. That's friction, and friction leads to lower conversion.

I can easily see why a racing game would need access to the device's motion sensors but not the user's calendar. While Apple has privacy labels for many things revolving around location and device identifier, they don't really have anything to explain where those contacts are going.
